Bedbase Suggestions

·

One of the questions that I get asked most often is for suggestions for bed bases to suit our bedheads.

I am currently in the process of giving my own bedroom a loooong overdue makeover. We purchased my current bedroom suite about 14 years ago and let me just say that the time to move on from mahogany laminate has certainly come –  of this I am sure.

A new bed base has been on my list so I thought I’d take you through the options that I found and considered for myself and what I ended up purchasing.

I have a queen size mattress therefore all prices listed as based on this size and are current as of May 2022.

My requirements were:-

- Timber bed base (no header or footer)

- Minimal design

- Queen size

- I was not necessarily after the cheapest but definitely wanted a “feel good buy” (who doesn’t)

I jumped online and went straight to E-Living Furniture. I had seen a few people I follow on Instagram purchase from them recently and I was keen to check them out. They have quite a few good options which I found to be reasonably priced, see my favourites below.

Next I explored;

Amart Furniture - nothing caught my eye

Freedom Furniture – nothing caught my eye

Temple & Webster – they had a few styles that were also on offer at E-Living (Temple & Webster operate on drop shipping retail model so I assume the manufacturer is selling on a few sites and hence the same product on multiple websites).

Others that I liked were the Ruby Pine & the Natural Beckham (pictured below).  I added to cart but the shipping cost to the Gold Coast was calculating at around $400 (yikes) but when I entered the next suburb over it was calculating at $80 which I am sure was just a glitch.

.
Life Interiors was next up - I really liked the look of the Luna style however an online review says that it is laminate and not solid oak (which you would assume based off the product description).  I couldn’t justify the more expensive price tag for laminate.

Fantastic Furniture – They also had a few of the same styles as E-Living however their delivery price was way more expensive.

Early Settler Furniture – I purchased the Kyan style (in Chestnut)  for my daughter last year, I'm happy with the quality for the price and the online sale (with instore pick up) was an easy process as was the assembly (so my hubby says).  This one was in my final 3.

.
RJ Living – I should not have tortured myself going on their website, they have some really beautiful bases made in solid oak (pics are below), while I wasn’t necessarily after the cheapest, these were definitely outside of my budget this time round - maybe next time.

What I bought…

I went with The Nook (in Walnut) from E-Living.  At $440 + shipping at $20.40 and a discount of $20 for signing up to their newsletter (so essentially free shipping).  I felt this ticked all the boxes and considering you wont even see it once I have loaded it up with my beautiful new linens, I added to cart, checked out and ticked that off the list.

Buuut now that I'm typing this I wonder if I should’ve just bought the Early Settler one (it is a nice bed)…,

I’ll give you an update once it arrives and hopefully then I’ll feel like I’ve made the right choice.
