Rattan Care & Maintenance
We want our pieces to be a part of your “lived in beautiful” home for years to come. To ensure the longevity of your pieces we recommend the following care instructions.
Avoid direct sunlight and keep away from heat source. Exposure will dry out the rattan and may cause it to crack or split.
Clean regularly with a damp cloth to remove any dust or debris. Some cleaning agents can contain harsh chemicals that may damage the finish.
Water and humidity can effect the rattan quality and appearance, it is best kept in dry conditions. Prolonged dampness, humidity and rain may cause mould, discolouration and the rattan to loosen - compromising the structural integrity.
For all of our plant holders and baskets we recommend that a water tray be used.
Our rattan furniture is designed primarily for indoor use. If you choose to use your rattan outside we advise keeping it undercover to make sure that it is protected from the weather. Damage caused by elements is not covered under general wear and tear and therefore you would be doing so at your own risk.
If you find that your rattan is starting to look weathered there are various methods that you can use to bring it back to life. When selecting your treatment product (stain, wax, oil or water based lacquer) we suggest that you consult a professional at a paint or hardware store for their suggestions. Please note that oil based lacquers may cause your rattan to turn yellow.
